Alhamdulillah, setelah selesai menjalani OSCE, maka berakhirlah tahun ketiga. I am very2 glad that it ended. The long awaited rest is finally here. Third year was fun, no doubt about that but I think no one would argue that it was indeed intense.
I wasn’t happy with my exams. I think I didnt do well in MCQ and also SAQ, but OSCE was fine alhamdulillah. All the hard work (kudos to Zain) paid off. Tinggal tawakkal aje la. Harap sangat I can enjoy my summer holidays without worrying about having to resit for my exams. I want to celebrate Eid in Msia. =)
Speaking about OSCEs, let me share with ya the stations that we had. There were 10 stations plus 3 rest stations, making it 13 all together. We were given 1 minute of reading time (to read the questions / scenario), and 5 minutes to complete the task given. Below are brief descriptions of the stations: (not in sequence)
1. GCS – access the patients GCS. There was an actor in this station. I think I rubbed his sternum too hard. kesian die. lol.. the followup questions was about management of the patient and a few more question. This station is super easy, insyaAllah.
2. do CVS exam starting with pulse (skip inspection of hands, arms, etc) then face and precordium. The patient had mitral regurgitation murmur, best heard in mitral area, radiating to axilla, loudest on expiration. =) (real patient)
3. Peripheral vascular exam. I didnt do that well in this station. forgot to comment on thickened toe nail and blue toe syndrome..

4. full Respiratory exam – I think i aced this station, alhamdulillah. Thanks to Allah, and Zain! (real patient)
5. history taking – left hemiparesis and slurred speech. The actor did a great job imitating a stroke pt. =D
6. history taking – chest pain and palpitation.
7. PAtient management station – pt with resp failure, but with pulse. worst station ever. didnt expect this. =)
8. Pt with stoma. i did well i think but forgot to auscultate. (real patient)
9. history taking – jaundice and hematemesis.
10. neuro exam – parkinsons disease. i think i aced this as well. the examiner told me. ‘u did everything. u can sit now’ alhamdulillah
So, overall it was ok. =) since OSCE is 60% of the total mark, i think i’ll pass Foundations of Clinical Medicine module. =)
Kembara ke Benidorm – “First Class!”
Sejurus selepas OSCE berakhir, I quickly kemas2 rumah, packing and then took a but jam 115 pagi next morning to Dublin Airport. Our flight is at 10am, but if I sleep malam tu, hampir pasti akan terlepas bus dan flight ke Alicante. Benidorm a tourist town, 30 minutes drive from Alicante. We rented a car to ease mobility.

Sepanjang perjalanan ke Benidorm, kami bagai teruja dengan pemandangan yang sangat2 indah. huhu. Dah la naturally cantik, bersih pulak tu. Sangat sedih bila terkenang negara umat islam yang selalunya kotor. Oleh kerana jalan yang kami lalui berasa along the coastline, maka nampak la the shore yang sangat indah. =)

As soon as we reach Benidorm, we checked in our apartment and drove around to look for food. Setelah penat mencari, akhirnya we parked our car somewhere close to the beach and went beach strolling. We ate at a seafood restaurant at the shore. fish and chips… ok la. cumanya i think ikan die terlebih goreng. huhu. kawan lain pulak terorder makanan yang ana ayam didalamnya. huhu.
Selepas makan, kitorang pergi mandi2 kat pantai. Baru nak seronok mandi, tetiba Amin jerit ‘Jellyfish! Jellyfish!’. Kitorang pun ape la, terus berlari keluar dari air. huhu. Alhamdulillah, Allah pelihara dari bala. Quite dangerous la jugak kan?

Selepas tu, kitorang singgah ke supermarket untuk beli bahan masakan. Apartment kami is a self catering apartment, so ada kitchen, fridge, washing machine pun ada. Mantap gak aa, since we paid only 120 eu for three nights. Alhamdulillah. Allah permudahkan semuanya.
